The word ruby comes from the Latin word for red "ruber". A variety of the mineral corundum is how a ruby gets colour, which is pink to red. Sapphires are also a variety of corrundum, most commonly known for being blue but infact also come in an aray of colours such as purple, pink, orange, green and yellow.
These beads are a mix of corrundum. Ruby with some pretty pink and purple hues of Sapphire.
