Freshwater Pearls differ from other cultured pearls in that they are not bead nucleated but a small piece of mantle tissue from another oyster is used. The result is a pearl composed of solid nacre, making them quite durable and resisting degeneration.
PLEASE NOTE: Holes are approximately between 0.3-0.5mm. Hole sizes for pearls are much smaller than for gemstone beads as the most popular stringing method is to use the traditional silk thread.
